Staff Selection Commission invites applications for 1,748 Junior Engineer posts

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened applications for the 2026 Junior Engineer Examination. The recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 1,748 tentative vacancies for various Group B positions.

Available roles include Junior Engineer in the fields of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical and Mechanical, and Telecom. Additionally, the recruitment includes Scientific Assistant positions within the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at Pay Level 6.

The online application window opened on September 2, 2026, and is scheduled to close on September 22, 2026, at 11 pm. While there is no specific reservation for ex-servicemen due to the Group B classification of these posts, eligible ex-servicemen may receive age relaxations according to government regulations.

Reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities will be applied based on existing government orders and reported vacancies.
