Staff shortages trigger long queues at Correos offices in Vigo
In Vigo, Spain, customers are facing queues of up to 30‑45 minutes at local Correos post offices. The bottleneck is linked to a sharp reduction in summer hiring – about 59.5 % fewer temporary staff than the 2025 campaign – and to limited opening hours, with most branches operating only in the morning.
Unions CCOO, CIG and CSIF blame the staff cuts, low replacement rates (around 30 % annually) and the closure of some offices for the overload. They note that only a few service counters are active, and that the workload for mail carriers has doubled. Correos maintains that service in Vigo is operating normally despite the complaints.
