Staffolo, Italy and Weingarten, Germany sign twinning pact

On 1 August 2026, the mayor of Staffolo, Sauro Ragni, and the vice‑mayor of Weingarten (Baden), Timo Martin, signed a protocol of understanding that officially twins the Italian municipality with its German counterpart. The partnership builds on a friendship that began in the 1980s when the two towns’ musical bands met, evolving over the decades into regular visits, cultural exchanges and joint community projects.

The agreement sets out concrete cooperation in cultural and musical events, school and youth programmes, tourism promotion and joint participation in European funding schemes. Particular emphasis is placed on the shared wine heritage of the regions – Staffolo’s Verdicchio production and Weingarten’s historic viticultural area – with plans to develop joint wine‑related initiatives and tourism activities.
