Staffordshire nature reserve death investigation after infant dies while camping

A three-month-old girl has died during a family camping trip at a nature reserve in Staffordshire, United Kingdom. Emergency services were called to the Wyrley and Essington Branch Local Nature Reserve near Cheslyn Hay on Saturday morning following reports of a child in cardiac arrest.

An air ambulance arrived at the scene at approximately 8:45 a.m., but paramedics pronounced the infant dead shortly after. Police cordoned off a fishing lake near Strawberry Lane as part of their investigation. Drone footage from the area showed several tents and camping equipment situated near fishing platforms.

Detective Inspector Katie Gregory stated that the death is currently being treated as “unexplained” and described it as an “isolated incident.” While the area is not an official campsite, local officials noted it is a popular spot for fishing and outdoor activities. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
