Stal Gorzów and Falubaz face financial and competitive pressure

Speedway clubs Stal Gorzów and Falubaz Zielona Góra are facing significant financial pressures as they navigate the end of the season. Stal Gorzów is currently managing a budget gap of approximately 3.9 million PLN, with player salaries alone costing 13 million PLN. To address these liquidity issues, the Gorzów City Council has discussed a resolution to increase targeted subsidies for major sports disciplines by 1.5 million PLN, though the specific allocation to the club remains a subject of debate among council members.

Simultaneously, both Stal and Falubaz are fighting to maintain their positions in the PGE Ekstraliga. The stakes are high; a relegation could result in a loss of over 7 million PLN in annual revenue. Falubaz manager Marek Mróz admitted to a nervous atmosphere ahead of their upcoming play-down matches, noting the intense pressure to avoid the costly scenario of competing in lower leagues.
