Stamatina Tsimitili says #MeToo had excesses yet improved TV workplace
Greek morning‑show presenter Stamatina Tsimitili spoke at length to Hello magazine about the impact of the #MeToo movement on the television industry. She said the campaign has helped curb rude and abusive behaviour in Greek TV workplaces, adding that “there were some excesses in the whole #MeToo story”.
Tsimitili noted she has not personally experienced gender‑based prejudice, saying “I was lucky and have not experienced it”, but highlighted a growing sense of female solidarity among colleagues. She praised women who balance multiple roles without abandoning their dreams. The interview also referenced the success of Alpha’s morning programme, which recently recorded an average 18 % share among viewers aged 18‑54.
Overall, Tsimitili’s comments suggest the #MeToo movement has shifted workplace attitudes in Greek media, even as some observers consider parts of the discourse to have been over‑reached.
