Stamatis Zacharos apologizes for remarks regarding Tempi victim Erietta Molcho
Journalist Stamatis Zacharos has issued a public apology following controversial remarks made during his program ‘EDO’ on ONE Channel regarding Erietta Molcho, a victim of the Tempi train tragedy.
During a discussion with lawyer Thomas Staikos, who represents the Bulgari family in the Tempi judicial proceedings, Zacharos questioned whether Molcho had even been on the train, comparing the situation to past claims regarding missing persons during the Polytechnic uprising. The comments sparked significant backlash on social media.
In a statement released via X (formerly Twitter), Zacharos took full responsibility for his words, describing them as a ‘wrong phrasing’ rather than an expression of irony or an adoption of conspiracy theories. He clarified that his intention was to criticize those who promote conspiracy theories surrounding the accident, but admitted his choice of words was incorrect. He extended his apologies to those offended, specifically addressing the family of Erietta Molcho and the relatives of all Tempi victims.
