Stampin Resettlement Scheme begins RM87 million flood mitigation project
An RM87 million flood mitigation project at the Stampin Resettlement Scheme in Kuching has entered its implementation phase. The initiative aims to reduce flooding risks, protect homes, and improve stormwater management through enhanced drainage and water-management measures.
A kick-off meeting and dialogue session were held involving the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), project consultants, the appointed contractor, and local residents. Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap chaired the session, emphasizing that community engagement must be an integral part of the process. The dialogue provided a platform for residents to raise concerns regarding potential disruptions, such as traffic movement and access to residential areas, during the construction period.
Wilfred Yap stressed the necessity of close coordination between authorities, technical consultants, and the community to ensure the project meets its technical requirements and delivers tangible results for the residents.
