Kroenke Sports & Entertainment to acquire Los Angeles Angels

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), led by billionaire Stan Kroenke, has reached a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels from longtime owner Arte Moreno. The transaction, which is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, is subject to approval by Major League Baseball.

While official financial terms were not disclosed, reports suggest the sale could be valued at approximately $4 billion, potentially setting a new record for an MLB franchise sale. Some estimates suggest the valuation could reach as high as $4.5 billion. The deal includes the franchise and its regional broadcast network, Angels Broadcast Television.

This acquisition significantly expands Kroenke’s extensive sports empire, which already includes the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, the MLS’ Colorado Rapids, and the English Premier League’s Arsenal FC.

Following the takeover, Kroenke reportedly intends to prioritize the construction of a new $2.5 billion ballpark to replace the aging Angel Stadium, which has been in use since 1966. The sale marks the end of Arte Moreno’s 23-year tenure, during which the team won five American League West titles but has struggled with a long period of postseason absence.
