Stan premieres horror-comedy series Gnomes

The new horror-comedy series ‘Gnomes’ has premiered on the streaming platform Stan. Set in the fictional Victorian town of Nompton, the show follows Senior Sergeant Arnold Kipps, played by Asa Butterfield, as he deals with the impending closure of his understaffed police station.

The plot escalates when an ancient European gnome queen is awakened, causing local ceramic garden ornaments to transform into a murderous army. The series incorporates a backstory involving Nazi occult interests from the final stages of World War II, with the gnome queen statue having been stolen by officers during that era.

Co-writer and star Tegan Higginbotham noted the intention to use humor regarding the historical elements, drawing inspiration from Mel Brooks-style comedies.
