Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe launches Africa Business Awards for SMEs

Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has introduced ‘The Standard Bank Africa Business Awards’ to recognize exceptional small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout the African continent. The initiative aims to foster innovation, leadership, and economic impact across various industries.

Patson Mahatchi, Stanbic Bank head of business and commercial banking, stated that the awards are open to eligible SMEs across Africa, regardless of whether they currently bank with Standard Bank Group or Stanbic Bank. The program features several categories designed to highlight excellence in sectors such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and retail, as well as dedicated categories for women-owned and youth-owned businesses.

Mahatchi emphasized that SMEs serve as a primary engine for economic development by creating jobs and driving sustainable growth. The bank intends to support these entrepreneurs through financial solutions, advisory services, and platforms that facilitate market opportunities.
