Stanbic IBTC reports 40% increase in H1 2026 pretax profit
Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC reported strong financial growth for the first half of 2026, with profit before tax increasing 40.13% year-on-year to ₦341.57 billion. Gross earnings rose 27.15% to ₦650.31 billion, while profit after tax reached ₦239.68 billion, a 38.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
While headline profits grew, the composition of earnings shifted significantly. Net interest income declined by 14.3% to ₦266.3 billion, reflecting a more expensive funding environment and pressure on traditional banking spreads. However, this was offset by a 125.9% surge in non-interest revenue, which reached ₦278.0 billion. This growth was driven largely by a rebound in trading revenue, which moved from a loss of ₦856 million in H1 2025 to a gain of ₦126.4 billion in H1 2026.
Following these results, the Board of Directors recommended an interim dividend of ₦4.50 per ordinary share. This represents an 80% increase over the ₦2.50 per share declared in the first half of 2025, totaling a payout of ₦71.56 billion.
