Standard Bank Namibia delivers new homes to Okahandja families

Standard Bank Namibia has handed over permanent brick homes to four families in the Oshetu 1 community of Okahandja. This milestone was achieved through the bank’s Buy-a-Brick Initiative, a program designed to provide safe, low-cost housing to families living in informal settlements.

The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN) and the Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG). Standard Bank Namibia has invested N$2.5 million into the program, with additional support from partners including VIVO Energy Namibia, BodyWise, and Ninety One Namibia.

To further support the cause, Old Mutual Namibia has contributed N$80,000 toward the third edition of the ‘Standard Bank Padel for Purpose’ event in Windhoek. Since its launch in 2016, the Buy-a-Brick Programme has raised over N$27 million and facilitated the construction of approximately 740 houses for low-income families across Namibia.
