Bitcoin Holds Near $64,000 as Standard Chartered Reaffirms $100,000 2026 Target

Bitcoin is trading around $64,000, having rallied nearly 10% in July. Technical indicators such as RSI and MACD show modest bullish momentum, but on‑chain metrics (aSOPR, Puell Multiple, Reserve Risk Multiple) remain negative, suggesting the market is still in an accumulation phase.

Standard Chartered reiterated its year‑end‑2026 price target of $100,000, describing the current level as a “screaming buy.” The bank argues that recent price weakness reflects uncertainty over Strategy’s changing treasury approach rather than a deterioration in Bitcoin’s fundamentals. Strategy’s recent sales of several thousand BTC, used to back its perpetual preferred stock (STRC), caused a short‑term dip, but Standard Chartered treats the episode as market noise.

The broader crypto market is buoyed, with total market capitalization rising to about $2.21 trillion and Bitcoin leading with a 7‑day gain of roughly 2%. Institutional activity continues, exemplified by Galaxy Digital’s transfer of 2,500 BTC (about $160 million) to exchange wallets—an event that attracted speculation but has so far produced only muted market response.
