Standard Chartered Kenya posts record H1 profit and highlights sustainable finance milestones
Standard Chartered Bank Kenya reported a record first‑half operating income of Ksh 1.5 trillion and profit before tax of Ksh 620 billion, a 9 % increase year‑on‑year. The bank raised its income guidance, announced a Ksh 129 billion share‑buyback programme and lifted its interim dividend by 66 % to 20.4 US cents per share. Group Chief Executive Bill Winters credited strong growth in Wealth Solutions and Global Banking for the performance.
The bank also disclosed that it has mobilised more than Sh97 billion in sustainable finance since 2021, funding renewable‑energy projects, affordable housing, sustainable infrastructure and women‑led businesses. Its 2025 sustainability report noted a 9.7 % reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse‑gas emissions, an 84 % landfill‑diversion rate and recycling of nearly 68 tonnes of waste, underscoring its commitment to environmentally responsible growth.
