Standard Chartered report highlights tokenization's role in corporate treasury

A report by Standard Chartered and consultancy Zanders indicates that corporate treasury departments are increasingly prioritizing tokenization as a strategic tool for liquidity management. The report suggests that tokenized deposits, regulated stablecoins, and tokenized securities could enable continuous cash movement and near real-time transaction settlements, potentially replacing traditional banking cycles.

Market momentum is evident in the tokenized money market fund sector, which has reached approximately $13 billion. Notable contributors include BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, holding over $2.5 billion, and Franklin Templeton’s OnChain US Government Money Fund, which exceeds $2.47 billion. While adoption offers potential for automation and efficiency, the report notes that mainstream, full-scale implementation is still several years away.

In conjunction with these findings, Standard Chartered hosted the Treasury Leadership Forum Thailand 2026 in Bangkok. The event brought together CFOs, policymakers, and financial innovators to discuss the integration of AI, tokenization, and digital assets into treasury operations, focusing on risk mitigation and the evolving regulatory landscape in Thailand.
