Standard de Liège faces major losses for closed-door derby
Standard de Liège faces significant financial losses due to an upcoming match against Sporting Charleroi being played behind closed doors. Stadium manager Sacha Feytongs estimates the loss between 300,000 and 500,000 euros, noting that the decision impacts not only matchday revenue but also local businesses and service providers around the Sclessin stadium.
Despite the lack of spectators, Sporting Charleroi has seen a boost to its squad as several international players, including Adama Bojang, Boubakar Dembaga, Yassine Khalifi, and Mohamed Koné, have returned from international duty. The players have rejoined training ahead of the high-stakes Walloon derby, which will be restricted to approximately 300 authorized personnel, including media and club delegations.
