Standard Liège ends pre‑season with 0‑3 loss, completes €5 m transfer window
Standard Liège finished its pre‑season preparations with a 0‑3 defeat to German third‑division side Viktoria Köln, a result that follows earlier setbacks against Dunkerque and Juventus. Coach Vincent Euvrard said the squad is now complete after the club secured its final signing, left‑back Sylvester Jasper, for €1 million, bringing total summer spending to just under €5 million. Other arrivals include Salieu Drammeh, Rayan Touzghar, Alexis Trouillet, Laurens Goemaere, Bruny Nsimba and midfielder Dimitri Lavalée. Euvrard added that while some players may still be sold if lucrative offers arise, the team is ready for the upcoming Jupiler Pro League opener against Cercle Brugge next Saturday. The defeat raises concerns ahead of the season, as Standard had won four of seven friendlies but also suffered three losses in the build‑up. Belgian rivals Genk secured a 3‑1 win over TOP Oss, while Courtrai, La Louvière and Mechelen recorded mixed results.
