Standard Liège rejects loan offers for players
Standard Liège's sporting director, Marc Wilmots, has outlined the club's stance regarding several players drawing transfer interest ahead of the market closing. Wilmots explicitly ruled out loan deals, stating, “There is no question of loaning out our players. If they leave, it will be for a reasonable price that pleases Standard.”
This position directly addresses interest from Italian club Lazio regarding defender Ibe Hautekiet, who was reportedly being considered for a loan move.
Other key player situations include:
- Marlon Fossey: Despite recovering from hamstring issues, the defender's future remains undecided. The club has made a final contract offer, though Wilmots noted, “I want him to stay, but he must want to stay himself.”
- Mathieu Epolo: The goalkeeper is being monitored by multiple clubs. While no concrete offers have arrived, the club is open to discussing transfers if an attractive bid is made. Wilmots acknowledged that Epolo likely intends to move to a larger club in the future.
