Stanford and Hawai’i prepare for Week 0 football matchup

Stanford University and the University of Hawai’i are set to face each other in a Week 0 college football matchup. The game marks a significant moment for both programs, featuring head coaches of Polynesian descent at their respective alma maters, Timmy Chang for Hawai’i and Tavita Pritchard for Stanford.

To celebrate Pacific Islander heritage during the season opener, Stanford has collaborated with Island Avenue to design special merchandise and custom apparel for coaching staff. The initiative includes a special helmet design and a line of clothing such as tracksuits and hats. Student-athletes, including sophomore safety Donte Utu, noted the importance of cultural representation within the program.
