Stanford field hockey defeats Central Michigan 2-1

Stanford field hockey secured a 2-1 victory over Central Michigan University, maintaining a perfect 3-0 start to the season. The win marks the Cardinal’s best start since the spring 2021 campaign.

Summer Knight-Thompson opened the scoring for Stanford just over two minutes into the match following a pass from Grace Essalih. Central Michigan responded to level the game at 1-1, but Star Horlock eventually scored the decisive goal for the Cardinal.

Defensively, Anya Jackson recorded seven saves, and Stanford’s penalty corner defense successfully neutralized all three of Central Michigan’s corner opportunities in the final frame.
