Stanford women's basketball defeats Pacific in exhibition opener

Stanford women’s basketball secured a 72-45 victory over Pacific in its first preseason exhibition game on Saturday. The Cardinal offense was led by sophomore Hailee Swain, who scored a game-high 18 points, and junior Shay Ijiwoye, who contributed 16 points.

Stanford established an early advantage, leading 21-8 after the first quarter following a 13-2 run. Sophomore transfer Charlotte Tuhy recorded 15 rebounds and highlighted the game with a half-court shot at the end of the third quarter. The team finished with 17 assists and shot 45.8% from the field.

Despite the win, head coach Kate Paye noted concerns regarding ball security, stating, “We turned over the ball way too much. I think we got a bit careless with it.” Stanford is scheduled to play its final preseason tuneup against UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, October 28.
