Stanisław Soyka: Reflections on the legacy of the Polish musician

The anniversary of the death of Polish musician Stanisław Soyka is approaching on August 21. Known for his distinctive voice and hits such as ‘Tolerancja’ and ‘Absolutnie nic’, Soyka was a prominent figure on the Polish music scene.

Soyka was open about his personal struggles, including a long-term battle with addiction. He revealed that smoking for over 40 years led to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He noted that his decision to quit was influenced by the loss of loved ones, which prompted him to change his perspective on life.

Reflecting on his professional relationships, singer Andrzej Piaseczny recalled their artistic history. Although Soyka initially declined a collaboration early in Piaseczny's career, the two eventually worked together in 2011 on the album ‘W blasku światła’, which featured interpretations of texts by Karol Wojtyła. Piaseczny described Soyka as a person of peace and kindness.
