Stanislavski Ballet Company debuts in Istanbul

The Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Ballet Company made its Turkish debut at the Istanbul Culture Route Festival. Performing the “Stanislavsky Ballet Gala” titled “Figures and Counterparts,” the troupe appeared at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) Theater Hall.

The program blended classical ballet heritage with contemporary choreography. Artistic Director and Choreographer Maxim Sevagin opened the evening with the single-act piece “In Dim Figures,” set to the music of Antonio Vivaldi. The repertoire also included selections such as a pas de deux from “The Talisman,” as well as works by Yuri Possokhov, Dmitry Bryantsev, and Ohad Naharin. The gala concluded with the “Pavlova and Cecchetti” pas de deux from Sevagin’s “Class Concert.”

Founded in the 1930s, the company maintains a repertoire that spans classical traditions, the choreographic legacy of Vladimir Burmeister, and works by leading contemporary choreographers. The troupe has previously toured across Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.
