Birmingham European Athletics Championships see Szymański win bronze

The European Athletics Championships in Birmingham are underway, featuring various standout performances and results. Polish hurdler Jakub Szymański secured a bronze medal in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.26 seconds, marking his first major senior outdoor medal in this discipline. This achievement brings Poland's medal tally to three, following silver medals from Ewa Swoboda and Pia Skrzyszowska.

In the hammer throw, Italy's Sara Fantini earned a silver medal with a throw of 74.35 meters, finishing behind Finland's Silja Kosonen. Meanwhile, in the men's 400m, British athlete Matthew Hudson-Smith took gold with a time of 44.17 seconds.

Other notable results include Maksymilian Szwed finishing sixth in the 400m final, and Czech high jumpers Jan Štefela and Marek Bahník failing to advance past the qualification rounds. The event continues through Sunday at the Alexander Stadium.
