Stanka Zlateva refuses to resign as Bulgarian Wrestling Federation President
Stanka Zlateva, President of the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation, has announced she will not step down from her mandate despite what she describes as ‘brutal pressure’ on herself and her team. Her decision comes ahead of an extraordinary General Assembly scheduled for October 17 in Sofia at the National Sports Academy ‘Vasil Levski’.
The assembly's agenda includes the potential removal of the President and the Management Board, the election of new leadership, and the adoption of a new statute. Candidates for the leadership position have already been announced, including Todor Angelov and Miroslav Gochev.
Zlateva addressed a legal dispute regarding the federation's solvency, noting that a commercial lawsuit (No. 20261100901357) was filed on September 4, 2026, seeking to declare the federation insolvent. She asserted that no court act has established valid debts owed to third parties. Zlateva linked these alleged obligations to the previous administration of Hristo Marinov and the involvement of Grisha Ganchev in the Management Board, accusing those calling for unity of being behind the legal actions.
