Stantec to design Toronto wastewater facility to reduce sewer overflows

Stantec has been selected by the City of Toronto to design and provide construction administration for a new High Rate Treatment Facility at the Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant. The facility is intended to reduce combined sewer overflows and improve water quality in the Lower Don River, Taylor-Massey Creek, and Toronto’s Inner Harbour during heavy rainfall.

The planned facility will have a treatment capacity of up to 600 million litres per day. It serves as a component of the Don River and Central Waterfront Wet Weather Flow System, a large-scale program designed to capture, store, and treat stormwater and sewage flows to protect public health and local waterways.
