Stapelfeld power outage caused by high-speed car crash

A 19-year-old driver caused a power outage in Stapelfeld, near Hamburg, after crashing into a transformer box. According to police reports, the driver was traveling at speeds between 70 and 90 km/h in a 30 km/h zone when he lost control in a curve. The vehicle struck a carport, overturned, and ended up resting on its roof.

The collision resulted in a power failure across several streets. The local fire station was also affected, leaving personnel to rely solely on emergency lighting to navigate the facility. Fire operations leader Björn Rosmaity noted that the lack of electricity presented an additional challenge for the responders.

Three young men were in the vehicle; all three managed to exit the car independently and were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and an expert was called to the scene during the night.
