Stapleford Cricket Club begins work on new permanent home ground

Groundwork has commenced on a new permanent home for Stapleford Cricket Club near Pit Lane. The project is part of a relocation plan that saw the club move from Hickings Lane Recreation Ground to a temporary site to facilitate the construction of the Stapleford Community Pavilion.

The new site was purchased by Broxtowe Borough Council using funds from the government’s £21.1 million Stapleford Towns Fund. The development plans were a collaborative effort involving the Towns Fund team, Stapleford Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board, and the Trent Bridge Community Trust, receiving approval in January 2026.

Following extensive flood alleviation work, construction is scheduled for completion in October. If weather conditions permit, the new ground is expected to be ready for play by summer 2027.
