Stará Červená Voda bridge demolition uncovers wartime explosives
During the demolition of a bridge in Stará Červená Voda on the Jesenice region, workers discovered two separate deposits of picric acid, a substance historically used as a high-impact military explosive.
The first discovery occurred over the weekend, involving a small amount of the yellowish substance. On Tuesday, workers found a significantly larger quantity, totaling 25 kilograms, located on the opposite side of the bridge structure.
Police and pyrotechnicians responded to the site, evacuating residents of two nearby homes as a precaution. The explosives were successfully neutralized through controlled detonations at a safe location. Authorities believe the explosives were placed within the bridge construction during past wartime conflicts.
