Star Fox multiplayer mode loses players as online activity declines

Velan Studios' remake of the classic Lylat Wars/Star Fox 64 for Nintendo Switch 2 has been praised as one of the best Nintendo remakes, yet its new online multiplayer mode is limited to three maps – Corneria, Fichina and Sector Y. A month after launch, social‑media posts show that player numbers have fallen sharply. Matches that were easy to find in the first weeks now often consist of CPU‑controlled bots, longer wait times, 1v1 human pairings and poorer connection quality.

Nintendo has not released official sales figures, and the upcoming quarterly report will cover the game's performance. Fans continue to enjoy the single‑player campaign, but the dwindling online community raises concerns about whether Velan Studios will add a map‑pack via DLC, and if so, whether it will be free or paid.
