Star Trek 60th Anniversary Comic Debuts as Future Franchise Plans Emerge
To mark the franchise’s 60th anniversary, IDW Publishing is releasing a 68‑page anthology comic on Sept. 2. The issue features new stories by Brian Michael Bendis, David Gerrold, Mike McMahan and others, spanning the original series, The Animated Series, Picard, Lower Decks and Starfleet Academy. It also includes a preview of a flagship Star Trek title slated for launch in 2026.
Separately, rumors emerging from the Tachyon Pulse Podcast suggest that San Diego Comic‑Con 2026 will unveil a five‑year plan for Star Trek. With Alex Kurtzman’s departure and Paramount regaining full control, the announcement could include a new TV series (potentially “Star Trek United”), a new film, and another season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”. William Shatner has indicated that Paramount is planning a major reveal tied to the anniversary.
