Star Trek directors reveal dark tone and lack of legacy characters
Directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have provided new details regarding the upcoming Star Trek film being developed by Paramount. The filmmakers confirmed that the project will serve as a fresh start for the franchise, moving away from the Kelvin timeline established in the Chris Pine-led films.
According to an interview with Empire, the movie will feature “no legacy characters” and will be set further into the future. The directors emphasized that the film will not be a comedy, describing it as “probably our darkest film that we’ve ever written.” While they noted that their personal sensibility may allow for levity through characters finding humor in difficult moments, the overall tone is intended to be serious.
