Star Trek Marks 60 Years with New Collector Box Set and Director Interview

The Star Trek franchise is commemorating its 60th anniversary. Ahead of the milestone, a special collector’s gift‑box edition of the original series – covering all 79 episodes from the first three seasons – will be released on 8 September 2026. The deluxe set includes Blu‑ray discs, limited‑edition lobby cards, a tiny vinyl soundtrack and other memorabilia, and is available for preorder through Amazon.

In conjunction with the anniversary, director Nicholas Meyer reflected on his experience directing Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Meyer explained how he was hired after the original film’s success, the budget constraints that shaped the sequel, and his personal journey from a non‑fan to a filmmaker inspired by classic adventure novels. He also discussed uncredited writing contributions to the film.
