Star Trek: Strange New Worlds adopts episodic, character‑focused format for Season 4

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will shift to a more episodic structure, abandoning a single season‑spanning antagonist. Showrunner Akiva Goldsman told Polygon that the upcoming season will emphasize character‑driven stories, highlighting crew members who did not appear in the Original Series’ Enterprise, such as Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia) and La’An Noonien‑Singh (Christina Chong).

Goldsman said, “Season 4 is what I would call very pure Strange New Worlds,” adding that the series will “move around in terms of tone, we move around in terms of genre.” The narrative will focus less on previous threats like the Gorn or Vezda, and while early episodes will be largely stand‑alone, the final half of the season may build toward a larger storyline leading into the fifth and final season. The season premieres on Paramount+ on July 23, and the series is set to conclude with its fifth season.
