Star Trek: Strange New Worlds explores new genres and character evolutions
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds continues to experiment with diverse storytelling genres and character developments. In recent episodes, the series explored a soap opera theme on the USS Enterprise, a creative choice discussed by writers Bill Wolkoff and Dana Horgan and director Anna Dokoza as a way to engage audiences through specific emotional connections.
Actor Rhys Darby returned as the character Trelane in the episode ‘Like Chronitons Through The Hourglass’. Darby noted that the character has evolved from a mischievous trickster into a more mature figure with an educational purpose and a growing interest in humanity.
Upcoming episodes include ‘Orders of Magnitude’, where Starfleet Command takes direct control of the Enterprise for an alien pursuit. The episode features the return of Admiral Reeger, played by Joe Morton, and places Captain Christopher Pike and his crew under a different chain of command.
