Star Trek: Strange New Worlds unveils unexpected new character and hints at Captain Pike return

Showrunner Henry Alonso Myers revealed that season 4 of *Star Trek: Strange New Worlds* will introduce an unexpected character: David Marcus, the son of James Kirk, who originally appeared in the early films. The episode will explore Kirk’s relationship with his son, a scientific prodigy linked to the Genesis device and the franchise’s classic storylines.

Actor Anson Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike, said he has not ruled out returning to the role after *Strange New Worlds* concludes. He told reporters, “On ne sait jamais,” meaning “you never know,” and added that in entertainment “you have to learn to never say never.” Mount emphasized that any future appearance would depend on the right opportunity and that fans should not count on anything yet.

The fourth season is set to premiere on Paramount+ on 23 July, with the David Marcus episode slated as the fourth installment. No casting details for the new role have been released.
