Star Wars expands with new films and graphic novels

Lucasfilm and Disney are expanding the Star Wars franchise through a strategic shift back to theatrical cinema and new media formats. Key upcoming film projects include ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’, directed by Jon Favreau, as well as films by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy focusing on the Jedi Order and James Mangold exploring the origins of the Force.

In addition to cinematic expansions, the franchise is moving into the graphic novel market. A new collection titled ‘Star Wars: Boba Fett — Black, White & Red Treasury Edition’ is scheduled for release on October 13, 2026. This anthology compiles stories from 2025, utilizing a distinct black, white, and red color palette to depict the character's adventures.
