Star Wars: Galactic Racer announced as new racing title
The Star Wars franchise is returning to the racing genre with the announcement of ‘Star Wars: Galactic Racer’. Developed by veterans of the ‘Burnout’ and ‘Need for Speed’ series, the title aims to deliver high-speed action and cinematic spectacle.
Set between Episodes VI and VII, the game follows a pilot named Shade competing in the Galactic League to defeat Kestar Bool. Players can choose from three vehicle types: land speeders, speeder bikes, and swoop speeders. The gameplay features a high difficulty level and a unique ‘Ramjet’ turbo mechanic, which provides significant speed boosts but risks overheating and exploding the engine if not managed carefully.
This release marks the franchise's first major foray into racing in over two decades, following the success of titles like ‘Star Wars Episode I: Racer’ (1999). It arrives shortly after the launch of the action-RPG ‘Zero Company’.
