Star Wars: Galactic Racer to feature roguelite elements and no season pass
Fuse Games is developing Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a racing title scheduled for release on October 6. The game is designed as a spiritual successor to Nintendo 64-era Star Wars racers, blending arcade-style gameplay with modern roguelite elements.
Developer Matt Webster has confirmed that the game will not feature a season pass, opting instead to focus on a solid initial experience and avoiding common live-service monetization models. While there will be post-launch content, the studio aims to prioritize replayability through its runs-based structure and meaningful consequences for in-game accidents.
The multiplayer mode features a Multiplayer Tour, a championship-style campaign where up to 12 players compete across multiple planets. This mode includes a betting system where players can wager on their finishing positions to earn credits and rare vehicle parts. A build-chase mechanic allows players to upgrade their vehicles through several rounds before a final showdown.
To maintain Star Wars canon, the game will not include Anakin Skywalker at launch, as the setting follows a timeline where certain characters are no longer alive. However, the developers have not ruled out the possibility of adding new characters in future updates.
