Star Wars: Galactic Racer receives critical acclaim
Star Wars: Galactic Racer, developed by Fuse Games and published by Secret Mode in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, has received widespread critical acclaim upon its release. The title has achieved a Metacritic score of 88, making it the highest-rated Star Wars video game in over two decades, surpassing the 2003 release of Knights of the Old Republic.
Critics have praised the game for its high-octane arcade racing mechanics, drawing comparisons to the Burnout series due to its aggressive takedowns and intense sense of speed. The game features a unique roguelite-inspired single-player campaign where players control the character Shade, navigating a high-stakes racing circuit in the era following the fall of the Empire.
Reviewers highlighted the variety of vehicles, including landspeeders, speeder bikes, and podracers, as well as the immersive visual and auditory design. While most feedback is positive, some critics noted potential frustrations with the difficulty spikes in the roguelite campaign and occasional repetitiveness in certain mission structures. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
