Star Wars: The Old Republic announces Masters of the Force update

Star Wars: The Old Republic has announced its upcoming major update, version 8.0, titled ‘Masters of the Force’. This update marks the beginning of a new era for the MMORPG, coinciding with the game’s upcoming 15th anniversary.

The new content era begins with the ‘Galaxy in Chaos’ storyline, which explores the fallout of Darth Malgus’s legacy and the resulting unrest across the Republic and the Sith Empire. A central feature of the update is the introduction of Ryloth, the Twi’lek homeworld in the Outer Rim, where players will encounter the Hutt Cartel and participate in dynamic encounters.

Technical and gameplay improvements include:

• An increased level cap of 85. • New difficulty modes for the overworld, including Story, Veteran, and Master modes. • The ‘Children of Nul’ operation, an eight-player, three-boss challenge. • New abilities for various disciplines, gearing updates, and quality-of-life improvements. • New ‘Ventures’ progression paths, offering Classic and Expert modes to provide different gameplay experiences.
