Stara Kopalnia wins award for mining heritage exhibition

The Stara Kopalnia Center for Science, Culture, and Art has secured third place in the regional exhibitions category at the 2025 Lower Silesia Museum Event of the Year awards. The recognition was presented during a ceremony at the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław.

The award-winning project, titled ‘Kopalniane Portrety’ (Mine Portraits), serves as a tribute to the mining history of Wałbrzych and the generation of the ‘last shift’. The exhibition features 54 large-format photographs of former miners in ceremonial uniforms, captured by photographer Dariusz Gdesz, alongside personal accounts collected by Artur Szałkowski.
