Stara Zagora Airport hosts Eighth Air Tour of Bulgaria
Stara Zagora Airport recently hosted the Eighth Air Tour of Bulgaria, marking the first aviation event at the location in over 20 years. The event brought together pilots and representatives from various aviation clubs for a program featuring aircraft demonstrations and flights.
Organized by the local Air Sports Club and the informal association ‘Airport for Stara Zagora’, the event included career orientation initiatives for young people interested in aviation. To facilitate the event, a 700-meter section of the runway was designated for use, with coordinated takeoff and landing procedures.
The tour commemorates the 100th anniversary of Bulgaria’s first air tour in 1926 and honors the 130th birthdays of aviation designers Tsvetan Lazarov and Asen Yordanov. According to Spas Spasov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Air Force Foundation, the initiative aims to preserve Bulgarian airports and promote aviation history among the youth.
