Stara Zagora average monthly salary reaches 1,230 euros

The average monthly gross salary in the Stara Zagora region reached 1,230 euros during the second quarter of 2026. This represents a 1.3% increase (16 euros) compared to the first quarter of 2026 and a 10.4% increase (116 euros) compared to the second quarter of 2025. Wage growth was more pronounced in the private sector, which saw a 12.2% annual increase, compared to 7.5% in the public sector.

Monthly wages fluctuated during the quarter, starting at 1,240 euros in April, peaking at 1,243 euros in May, and decreasing to 1,207 euros in June. The highest earnings were recorded in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gaseous fuels at 2,023 euros, followed by the mining industry at 1,794 euros and information/creative services at 1,775 euros. The lowest average wages were found in hospitality and restaurant services at 802 euros.

Regarding employment, the number of people working under labor and service relationships in Stara Zagora reached 99,114 by the end of June 2026, a marginal increase of 0.1% from the end of March 2026. However, compared to June 2025, the number of employees decreased by 1,386 people, or 1.4%. The unemployment rate in the region was reported at 4.76% for July.
