Stara Zagora begins residential energy efficiency project
The Stara Zagora Municipality has launched an energy efficiency project for a multi-family residential building located on Dimitar Podvrazhachov Street. The building, a monolithic reinforced concrete structure commissioned in 1962, is scheduled to improve its energy rating from class ‘E’ to class ‘B’.
Planned technical upgrades include 12 cm of EPS thermal insulation for external walls, 10 cm of mineral wool for the sub-roof space, and 5 cm of veneered mineral wool for the basement ceiling. Additionally, existing windows will be replaced with new 5-chamber PVC frames featuring triple glazing and two low-emissivity panes.
The construction works, awarded to ‘BRATANOV 2017’ Ltd, are scheduled to run from February 10, 2026, to February 10, 2028. The 24-month timeline for a three-story building has raised questions regarding its proportionality and the potential for extended resident discomfort.
