Stara Zagora hosts inaugural Tenyo Tonev classical wrestling tournament

The first edition of the ‘Tenyo Tonev’ classical wrestling tournament took place at the Municipal Wrestling Hall in Stara Zagora, bringing together young athletes from clubs across Bulgaria. Organized by the ‘Classical Wrestling – Beroe’ sports club with support from the Stara Zagora Municipality, the event provided a platform for young competitors to demonstrate their skills and preparation.

Nikolay Dikov, Secretary of the Stara Zagora Municipality, attended as an official guest. In his address, he emphasized the vital role of sports clubs and coaches in child development and maintaining the city's strong wrestling traditions, which have produced numerous national, European, world, and Olympic champions. He encouraged the youngest participants to value hard work, perseverance, and character alongside athletic success.

A special moment during the tournament included honoring veteran coach and Master of Sports Petar Manev with an honorary plaque from the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation in celebration of his 70th anniversary and his contributions to the sport.
