Stara Zagora hosts symphonic concert and city day celebrations

Stara Zagora is hosting a series of cultural events, including the ‘Musical Ikebana’ symphonic concert at the Stara Zagora State Opera on October 12, 2026. The concert features Japanese musicians Kiyoko Sakai (piano), Koji Okazaki (bassoon), and Etsuko Okazaki (piano) performing alongside the local opera orchestra under the direction of Nikola Petrov.

The program focuses on Western European classical works, including pieces by Carl Maria von Weber, Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari, and Frédéric Chopin. The Japanese soloists, who are educators at Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo, bring extensive experience from both Asian and European musical stages.

Additionally, the city will celebrate Stara Zagora Day on October 5 with a diverse program. Festivities include literary awards, the election of the 30th mayor, sports initiatives, and a retro car rally. The holiday celebrations will culminate in a concert by Vladimir Ampov (Grafa) and Dani Ilieva at the municipal square.
