Starachowice increases education funding by 1.7 million PLN
The municipality of Starachowice has increased its education funding by 1.7 million PLN. This decision, made during a recent City Council session, was primarily driven by shortages in teacher salary funds.
Marta Woźniak, Director of the Common Services Center in Starachowice, noted that planning educational expenditures is challenging because the budget year does not align with the school year. The shortages stem from several factors, including teacher salaries, severance pay, overtime hours for substitutions, increased employment of specialists, and costs related to special education.
Additionally, the municipality is facing higher costs for building maintenance, specifically regarding heating and electricity. While the 1.7 million PLN has been allocated, officials warned that these funds may not be sufficient to cover all educational needs through the end of 2026. The exact scale of the remaining deficit will be determined following further financial analysis of the various municipal schools and kindergartens.
