Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol targets premium experience to justify high coffee prices
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol believes the company can maintain premium pricing, even for beverages costing six to seven dollars, by focusing on a complete customer experience rather than just selling coffee. Speaking at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York, Niccol emphasized that high-quality products, superior service, and a welcoming atmosphere will protect the brand during periods of economic uncertainty and inflation.
As part of his ‘Back to Starbucks’ plan, Niccol aims to revitalize the ‘third place’ concept, positioning Starbucks stores as essential social spaces between home and work. The strategy involves improving preparation quality and fostering personal connections between baristas and guests to provide value that justifies premium costs and distinguishes the company from competitors.
